On April 27, 2019, the Plains Medical Foundation hosted their fourth Hats and Heels Gala at Sunrise Farms in Nazareth, Texas. The 2019 Gala was also a record setting year in sponsorship donations and earnings for the Castro County Hospital District. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is advising patients and their families to use antibiotics only when necessary to further reduce antibiotic resistance, the spread of superbugs, and protect patients from side effects from antibiotics. Cologuard and DNA Stool Testing

Castro County Healthcare introduces Cologuard DNA stool testing through the Medical Center of Dimmitt. This DNA stool testing is intended to screen adults of either sex, 50 years or older, who are at average risk for colon cancer. Cologuard is also covered by Medicare. Cologuard was approved by the FDA in August of 2014. It is not for everyone and is not considered a replacement for diagnostic colonoscopy or surveillance colonoscopy in high – risked individuals. Laura Kimball named Administrator at Country View Living

Country View Living is set to finish construction by December 27, 2018. Castro County Healthcare hung blue ribbons on Wednesday, April 18 in support of Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Month. Lydia Davila wins $180.00 from Castro County Healthcare (CCH), by coming in first place, losing 10.60 percent, in the 2018 Biggest Loser Contest. On January 29, 2018, CCH started their sign-ups for the Biggest Loser Contest. Each contestant stepped on the same scale and began their weight loss journey. Paying $25.00 to participate, they received a free fitness membership to the fitness facility at CCH for the full two months of the competition.
