The American Occupational Therapy Association has declared the month of April as Occupational Therapy Month. The Castro County Healthcare District through the Welch Rehab Center has one occupational therapist, Mary Crow, and one occupational therapist assistant, Christina Pantoja.
“They are a group of young professionals full of drive, knowledge and constantly continuing their education in their field,” said Guila Barrios, Welch Rehab Admission Clerk. “Seeing our patients healing and feeling better about themselves and their health is a rewarding part of my job.”
Occupational therapy is a profession that helps people across all lifespans to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). They help all ages and help promote health, and prevent injury, illness, or disability.
It can be common to see occupational therapists helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, as well as helping people recover from injury to regain skills and provide support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.
The team at Welch Rehab will help get you back to your normal life as quick as you can while caring for your special needs. They have specialist that will help you recover in the hospital, your home or in an outpatient setting.
CCHD also proudly offer physical and speech therapy to Castro County through Welch Rehab, 806-647-5646.
