DIMMITT – National Hospital Week is May 6 – 12, and during that time Castro County Hospital District will be honoring their 120 employees, who have dedicated their time to the healthcare in Castro County and the surrounding area.
CCHD is thankful for the support provided by staff members, Board of Directors, Auxiliary Committee, and the Plains Memorial Foundation and their newly added External Relations Committee. It is because of the support and efforts of these people that CCHD can provide quality healthcare to our community. As it states on the CCHD website, “We are people you know. We are Family. We Care.”
The 2018 National Hospital Week Theme is, “Caring is our Calling. CCHD wants to provide the community with the best care possible, and they do this by bringing the services you need closer to home. They offer a variety of services that focus on your personal needs.
Plains Memorial Hospital services include: Swing Bed, Nursing, Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, and emergency care, like the EMS services and the ER. Their rehabilitation program through Welch Rehab offers Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy. Welch Rehab also offers a fitness program to the community for a small fee. Plains Memorial Hospital also host Hands of Hope, a community service program for Castro County and the surrounding area.
The Medical Center of Dimmitt offers many services as well. Those include our clinic, chronic care management, women’s health, and a Telepsych program offered through Forefront Telecare. This allows patients to have a personal video conference with a psychologist in their local medical facility.
Also, offered through the Medical Center of Dimmitt are monthly visits by Michael B Farr, DO an Orthopedic surgeon at Covenant Health in Plainview, Kuldip S. Banwait, MD a Gastroenterologist at Panhandle Gastroenterology in Amarillo, and Kevin Jones, DO a Cardiologist with Covenant Health in Plainview.
CCHD also host the weight management program, Ideal Protein, that has assisted numerous community members lose weight and improve their health. The Dimmitt Ideal Protein group has lost over 870 total pounds.

CCHD will be putting on multiple events throughout Hospital Week to honor their team members for their hard work, devotion and compassion day and night to the community. Ranging from food, games, scrub sales, staff comradery, and more.
Community members are welcome to join CCHD on Wednesday, May 9 from 1:00PM to 3:00 PM in the Plains Memorial Hospital Solarium for our Essential Oil Show. Lindsay Reinart, a Doterra Essential Oil Distributor will be at the hospital answering any questions you may have and have a few samples of different essential oil variations.
They also encourage everyone to join them on Thursday, May 10 on the east side of the Medical Center of Dimmitt from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM for a Fiesta Fundraiser for Betty Oltivero. (More information in separate article.)
