Proud is the perfect word that describes Marcella Martinez’s, ADON-RN, feelings for Country View Living, and what it has offered Castro County and the surrounding communities. Martinez has been with Castro County Hospital District (CCHD) for the past 14 years, and is now expanding her management skills as the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Country View Living, the new long-term facility in the CCHD family.

She has always had a love of caring for people, from her years in the Emergency Room at Plains Memorial Hospital, as well as working as a first responder as a EMT-Basic, and now is cultivating her care in geriatrics through Country View Living.

“It is taking care of the people who shaped our past,” said Martinez. “I really love that I get to take care of people I have taken care of in every aspect. From being an ER nurse at the hospital, to here [CVL]. There is a true fulfillment I get from working here. It’s not just work, it’s more like a family, and I get to take care of the people I have known for years and I love that.”

Martinez’s desire is to make Country View Living feel like a home like environment for the residents and staff members. She wants people who never thought about going to a long-term living facility, look at Country View Living and all it has to offer and say, ’maybe this wouldn’t be such a bad idea.’

Martinez is glad to be a part of the Country View Living Team and family, and is excited about all the job opportunities it opened up for the community, and the level of care the facility provides to its residents. “I am home at Country View Living,” said Martinez.

Martinez is a proud Bobcat and Bobbie supporter. She is a mother of three; two sons, Gavin Flores (22) and Marcus Flores (20), and a daughter Megan Martinez (16) who will be a junior in high school this year.
