Castro County Hospital District (CCHD) always encourages their staff to expand their education. Yissell Feliu, a LVN at the Medical Center of Dimmitt will be returning to school in the fall to transition from LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) to an RN (Registered Nurse). She will be working less hours due to going back to school, but you will still see her around the clinic.
Yissell was nominated as the August Clinic spotlight. She has been with CCHD for a little over a year, and works with Sheila Higgins, FNP-C. Being an LVN, Yissell has the ability to provide patient care and administer medications and injections, among other things to her patients.
“The most rewarding part of my job is establishing a connection with my patients,” said Yissell. “I like to interact with each and every one of them, and get to know them and their families.”
She has enjoyed being at the Medical Center of Dimmitt and states that she works with a great team and they all work together to get the job done. She has always wanted to be an RN so she believes this is the perfect time to pursue her degree.
