Be Awesome, Donate Blood and Win a Scholarship

//Be Awesome, Donate Blood and Win a Scholarship

Wouldn’t it be awesome to win a scholarship just by taking some time to donate blood? Well you are in luck, because the February Community Blood Drive in Dimmitt with Coffee Memorial Blood Center is doing just that. When you donate blood, you will not only receive a “Be Awesome!” blood donation t-shirt, there is also a scholarship opportunity for any 2019 graduates.

Any graduates of 2019 that donate blood between February 1 and March 31 qualify for a drawing to win one of four $1000 scholarships. These scholarships are good for any university, community college, trade school or technical school. The scholarships will be awarded by random drawing from the 2019 graduating seniors who have donated blood during the Kids Inc Donor Days (Feb. 1 – March 31). Once the student is enrolled at his/her college, university, etc. a check will be written to the school to put in his/her account. You must be 17 years or older to donate blood, 16 year olds may donate with signed parental consent.

Coffee Memorial Blood Center is also inspiring others to donate blood by giving you a chance to help your child’s school win money during the Kids Inc Donor Days of February 1 through March 31. Every donor during these days will receive a “Be Awesome!” t-shirt, a coupon for a free shaved ice from Bahama Bucks (while supplies last), and can register their donation in honor of one area school. The school represented with the highest percentage of donors, based on total enrollment, will receive monetary contributions at the 2019 prize levels listed below.

There are a few restrictions to the Kids Inc. Donor Days and the schools who win the money. FDA regulations require Coffee Memorial Blood Center to issue a check directly to vendor(s) of the school’s choice, rather than to the school directly, or to provide a cash-restricted VISA gift card in the school’s name.

The Dimmitt Community Blood Drive is Tuesday, February 26 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Dimmitt Community Senior Citizen’s Building (218 W. Jones St.). Remember you can schedule a donation time and pre-answer all required questions for a quicker donation experience.
