The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is advising patients and their families to use antibiotics only when necessary to further reduce antibiotic resistance, the spread of superbugs, and protect patients from side effects from antibiotics. Castro County Healthcare introduces Cologuard DNA stool testing through the Medical Center of Dimmitt. This DNA stool testing is intended to screen adults of either sex, 50 years or older, who are at average risk for colon cancer. Cologuard is also covered by Medicare. Cologuard was approved by the FDA in August of 2014. It is not for everyone and is not considered a replacement for diagnostic colonoscopy or surveillance colonoscopy in high – risked individuals. With this date quickly approaching, Castro County Healthcare District (CCHD) has hired Laura Kimball as the Administrator at Country View Living. DIMMITT – Castro County Healthcare invites the community to help support a family, friend, and team member of CCHD next Thursday, May 10thfrom 11 AM to 1:30 PM. There will be a ‘fiesta’ fundraiser to help support Betty Oltivero during her kidney transplant journey. Castro County Healthcare hung blue ribbons on Wednesday, April 18 in support of Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Month. Lydia Davila wins $180.00 from Castro County Healthcare (CCH), by coming in first place, losing 10.60 percent, in the 2018 Biggest Loser Contest. On January 29, 2018, CCH started their sign-ups for the Biggest Loser Contest. Each contestant stepped on the same scale and began their weight loss journey. Paying $25.00 to participate, they received a free fitness membership to the fitness facility at CCH for the full two months of the competition. Castro County Hospital District is pleased to announce the promotion of Dana Cobb, RN to the position of Chief of Nursing Officer (CNO). Cobb has worked for CCHD for 20 years holding many positions including; Home Health Aide, RN for Home Health and Hospice, and has been a Charge Nurse with Plains Memorial Hospital. Cobb is certified in the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), and CPR.
