CCHD Remodel Update

1/14/2014

Remodeling of the Inpatient Wing continues to move forward at the hospital.  All of the electrical and plumbing lines are in.  Sheet rock is up in many of the rooms and all are framed. New windows have also been installed which replaced the ones original to the building.  The copper lines for the oxygen system have also been installed and are a larger diameter which helps with the constant flow of oxygen.  A new suction system has also been installed.  Plains Medical Foundation has purchased a new nurse call system with funds raised from last spring’s gala and the wiring is almost complete for this system.

An architect with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services did a 50% completion inspection in early December.  The inspection went well with minor corrections that were added to the construction project.  They are expected to return in mid- February for a final inspection.  Once HHS has approved the project, the wing can be opened for use.

The hospital currently is functioning with only six inpatient beds.  The census has been 1-6 during construction, but overall the patients have been accommodated without issue.
